As I pulled the mast apart on my 1997 P19 to install tie wraps on the
mast light wire to stop the clang clang clang...., I noticed that the
mast light was half full of water. No big deal I thought. Just remove
the lens, clean the contacts and check the bulb type for spares
purposes. At that time I had used the light on five overnighters. The
two 10 watt bulbs had melted the white plastic bulb holding tower to the
plastic lens. I had to cut the lens off even to determine this. And no,
I am not running two 12 volt batteries in series.
So, if you have a Hellmarine 158 mast light that you have used overnight
more that a couple of times, don't plan on ever changing the bulb out.
By the way, the stainless bracket on top of the mast is real tough to
drill new mounting holes in.
Best to all!
