Greetings Everyone:

Thursday, July 30, brought a change of weather which changed the
whole nature of the trip. We went from anxiously watching the sky with
exciting sailing to hopefully watching the sky with a lot of bobbing.

The forecast called for fair weather so we had a leisurely breakfast
before leaving at around 10:00. We motored for the first half hour to
clear the shoals and islands off the CPR slips. We raised the main and jib
at about 10:30 and began a slow bob eastward. By 13:30 I began to get
really hot so we began to slowly motor with the sails up (the winds were
too light to call this motor sailing). Starting the motor turned out to be a
brilliant idea as the winds picked up by 14:00, so we were under sail
again. We sailed for the next hour until we were off the entrance to
Woodbine Harbour. Not bad, ten miles in five hours.

Woodbine is a beautiful harbour with a long entrance past some small
islands. We were able to dock the potter against some logs, with the
judicious use of fenders tied to the logs from below, so that we could get
off to play on some large flat rocks. Linda and the kids found a small
cove to swim in while I did boat things. This was another busy
anchorage with seven boats spending the night.

Another wonderful day on Lake Superior!

More later.
