I think the meathooks are probably just the product of good old work
hardening. After the original (line) blocks had given their all, I
substituted wire blocks, which treat the cable well. Nonetheless, it *is*
11 years old, and the keel has been up and down a boodle of times. Not to
mention the shock loading during a lot of trailering. I'm surprised the
cable has lasted this long.
