RE: Rudder fold up and stashing main

Mike,

You might want to contact International Marine for a rudder raising and
lowering device. Last year they made me one that works with lines and it
works fine. It is simple and effective.

As far as stowing the main, if you just remove the boom and roll the main
around it and then put it in the cabin, it will be fine. There is just enough
room to stash the entire boom in the cabin if you stick the boom all the way
forward into the chain locker. Personally, I don't even bother bungeeing the
sail, I just roll it up and put the whole thing in the cabin. Each item, such
as an individual bungee, that you can skip will save you a few moments on set
up and take down. If you save enough moments, you can really set up and take
down efficiently. Although when I first got my boat it would take an hour to
put it in the water and about an hour or more to put it away at the end of the
day, I have shortened that substantially. I can now set up and be in the
water in about 20 minutes and it takes me about 45 minutes to put her away.
Putting away takes a little longer since I wipe down the hull and wipe off the
seat cushions, throw away the trash and do general clean up at the end of the
day.

Enjoy!
