Another Trailer Question

Once again, this novice Potterer is in need of information. I am trying
to find the serial number on my trailer. I assume (...yes, I know ;-)
it is the original trailer, but I don't know, and I can't find the
serial number anywhere! I've looked all up and down the tounge and the
axle, along the frame sides and just cannot locate anything. My P15 was
made in 1977, so if anyone has one of that vintage, please share where
the serial number is on the trailer. I may be able to find it under the
paint, somewhere. This is very important to me as I can't legally carry
my boat to the lake without a tag... and I must have a s/n to get the
tag.
