Hello:

Thank you for the explanation on backstays. (Ron and Harry). I have =
often wondered myself and have been asked a couple of times. I actually =
have another question about stays I'd like help with. That is how tight =
should they be? When nothing is under load all 3 of my stays seem only =
tight enough not to flop around. I can fairly easily pull them tighter =
about 1/2 to 1 inch. Is this OK?

Harry next time you're in Olympia sail in the Puget Sound. It is a =
whole network of channels, islands, and pennisulas up past Seattle and =
out to the Pacific or up to the San Juan Islands. Of course if you go =
that far you won't want to start in Olympia, we are at the very southern =
end...
