Aurora Reservoir in CO does not allow gas motors. I am successfully
using a 47lb electric powered off of my P-19's single Gp 24 battery.
I have placed a waterproof outlet for the motor plug on the inside
surface of the transom. That makes motor removal very easy and gives
me a place to plug in my charger. Last weekend, we came in to dock
with about twelve knots blowing under half power and that was far
more than enough. As experience on less protectted waters and
weather threshholds grow, Penelope may see more electric power and
possible a second battery, but the electrics work great and I don't
miss carrying fuel, nor do I miss the feeling of impending doom every
time I pull the recoil starter. Good luck to Manatee.
