I'd just note that as a backing plate material, stainless steel plate or bar
isn't necessarily the best choice. You can do just as well with aluminum
plate, which is a lot easier to work. If you're going to glue or otherwise
bed the stainless, you're going to "activate" the steel which will reduce
its
corrosion resistant properties anyway. Finally, if you use aluminum, you'll
be able to spot leaks easily.

Personally, I don't own a P-19, though I own several other boats. I'm
reading this list because I'm interested in (and have always admired) the
P-15. I've always thought the P-19 needed more attention to detail. It's
nice to see some of the owners fixing these things...
