I bought a boomkicker boom support at JSI. It works great, don't have to mess
the topping lift. It's light strong, and easy to install, although it's not
cheap at 125 dollars. I think it's worth the money.

I want to rig a topping lift, as I could have really used it last
weekend. However, I seem unable to rig it off the masttop on my
1988's mast. There isn't enough room on the one pin where the
backstay attaches without going to what appears to me to be too
small a shackle. Any other location seems to be likely to bind
against the main halyard.

While primarily interested in the masthead version, I'm willing
to examine fairly those that attach to the side stay area that
someone mentioned as well.

Does anyone have any closeup pictures of their masthead and of
their topping lift that I can get a look at? I've been a little
confused as to how the battens could tangle up in the topping lift
and lazy jacks, which makes me wonder at times if we're talking
about the same thing. (I know we are, I just don't see how they'd
foul, if properly rigged from the masthead.)

Or if you consider yourself a wordsmith, even a clear, concise
written explanation of how your topping lift is set up would
be appreciated.
