These two subjects go well together. Having worked my way across the
Atlantic as a deck ape on a freighter many years ago, I know about topping
lifts! I replaced the original Potter twine with quarter inch nylon line on
my P19. I snap a double block to the outhaul strap and with the bitter end
tied to the becket on the cheek block atop the mast, and then I use my boom
to raise my Sunshower bag (5 gallons of solar heated water) about 7 feet
above the cockpit. I have also suspended a shower curtain hung from a
4-foot diameter ring of electrical conduit also hooked to the outhaul strap.
The mainsheet keeps the shower centered over the cockpit. Works great and
stows easily.
