Con:
1) No easy way to rig a backstay which would be nice
2) slower in light winds. Even when I'm not dragging the dingy I have
trouble keeping up with the other guys.
Pro:
1) Short rig is even stiffer than the standard rig which I thing is great
for us new sailors with a family of 6 + dog. The crew don't get as nervous.
2) Because sail mass is closer to the water I can carry more sail in higher
winds, and still feel very safe and comfortable.
But of course free advice is worth what you paid for it...
