Eric Johnson asked why we didn't just sail in to the ramp. We we're
breaking camp at the end of the labor day weekend, the marina was very
crowded and to wait for the wind to develope would require waiting untill
the afternoon. I would still have had to douse the sails to navigate the
flotilla of bASS boats, and I thought it would be a good opportunity to
test the rowing option. I was very satisfied in calm conditions. I'v
tried 6' oars and found them too short. I would guess 9' to be ideal,
however the 8' are a good compromise in that they can fit in the cabin. By
the way If any of you are out this way I can recommend Strawberry Res. for
good afternoon sailing, and outstanding trout and salmon fishing, with a
small one measuring about 18". When trolling in the afternoon in choppy
water, it was gratifing to observe envious stares from the many bass boats.
There were conditions at times when the typical fishing boats looked close
to being swamped, while the P15 was dry and relatively stable.
