Gang,

FYI, was looking at the November Boat/US sale flyer and
noticed they are selling a "new" Nissan four-stroke along
with the old Nissan two-cycle. The older two-punch lists
at $899.99 whereas the new four-stroke is priced $200
more at $1099.99. The complete four-stroke ad reads:

"Meets all EPA standards for the year 2006!
Clean running, fuel-efficient outboard offers
quiet, smooth operation with low vibration.
Consumes just .45 gallons an hour @5,000
rpm. Manual start. Forward, neutral, and
reverse. Item 270414-40"

Though the ad doesn't say what HP or list any other
specs, both pictures show a 5 on the engine casing so
assume both are the 5 HP versions. Sounds like an
interesting, cheaper alternative to the Honda four-stoke.

Mind you, the Nissan 5HP two-cycle is not a bad little
engine either. We put nearly 70 miles on ours in two days
going to/from the Florida Potters "Convergence" in Tampa
Bay earlier this month. Ran like a top without so much as
a "miss" for six or seven hours straight in some very
choppy water.

Cheers,
