Steve - other posters have commented onthe river, but I think there's a REAL
problem with your proposed trip. The mouth of the Columbia river has some
of the nastiest waves on the coast. There is a shallow bar off the mouth of
the river, and with any kind of sea it is downright dangerous. I spent
about 6 hours circling off hte Columbia river mouth in a 250' LSM during the
days I was a guest ofthe grey funnel line. The way that ship rolled was
unblievable. Suggest you might want to talk to the Coasties about this., I
believe that's where they have their training school for motor lifeboats.
