Hi Gang, I would like to share a secret with you that will make your Potter
(both models) sail faster and point better. Crawl into the cabin with a piece
of cardboard and scissors. cut a triangle that fits perfectly into the bottom
of the forepeak compartment. you can use this for a template, or you can tape
or glue 2 inch sides all around it. Sink thie into a box of plaster of parris
and soon you will have a mold. Next you need about fifteen pounds of lead,
wheel weights. bird shot, sinkers, etc. I used my boat stove and cast iron pot
to melt the lead. Please do this outside. Pour the liquid lead into the mold
and tou will have a solid lead triangle about an inch and a half thick. Place
this in the bottom of the forepeak. I place my anchor and chain on top of
this. The extra weight foreward gives you the advantage of having someone
laying in your bunk, with a fraction of the weight. This will help compensate
for the weight of the outboard motor. Both of my Potters are set up this way
and it makes a big difference
