I had in mind about an 18" piece identical in section and material to the
keel, welded to the bottom in wing fashion. It'd even have the desirable
slight downward tilt.

Waiting for someone to take Larry Brown's alleged advice to replace the
keel with wood or FRP (perhaps the most dangerous advice I can imagine; I
shudder to think of the possible result), so I can use the discarded
casting.
