Hello All,

Hearing some of these questions, answers, and comments about HMS vs IM raises some questions for me as a new (new to me) owner of a 1996 WWP-19, Hull # 870. They in NO way worry me or make me second guess my decision or purchase they just raise questions PERIOD. Thanks.

1) What year did IM acquire HMS?
2) What were the last P15 and P19 hull #’s manufactured by HMS?
3) What were the first P15 and P19 hull #’s manufactured by IM?
4) Did IM acquire the manufacturing facilities and the employees with the purchase? Or did they re-locate? Re-tool? Re-staff?
5) Did IM replace the former HMS executives, managerial and skilled labor staff or did they make changes that resulted in increased morale, pride, workmanship and product quality?
6) Did the IM changes and improvements happen immediately or did they occur gradually?
7) Does anyone have a list of specific improvements and modifications from year to year and/or Hull# to Hull#? Are the 1998 hull’s better made than the 1997’s and the 1997’s better than the 1996’s etc .. ?
8) Can anyone tell me (us) about the 1996 model year? What improvements were made since the change of ownership and from year to year?
9) Can anyone list expected imperfections by model year so I (we) can anticipate them and make the necessary corrections. Especially the 1996 model year for my benefit?

I’m sure most of these questions have been asked and answered before, but, maybe it will help having them asked and answered in a few e-mails? I know it would help me. Again I am VERY PLEASED to have found and purchased my Potter. I’m just trying to anticipate any modification or corrections I can make to keep me busy over the winter while preparing for my first full season of Pottering in 1999.

It is comforting to read that some Potterer’s regularly sail in 25+ knot winds because it’s pretty common for the winds to be 15+ knots (ON AVERAGE) along the N.E. coast.
