I have been powering my P.14 with a 3.3 Mercury. It weighs the same as the 2.5
motor. It's true that a 2HP. motor will push you along at hull speed, but all
this changes if you have to push into a 20 knot wind. You need the extra
thrust of the larger motor. My first motor was a old 2.5 Seagull, I paid $60.
For it. The motor was in a box, completely apart. I put it together and used
it for 16 years. Seagulls are not simple, they are CRUDE. (sorry Harry) .
Anyone that "NEEDS" a 5HP. motor on a P.15 should take sailing lessons.
