Gordon,

Thanks for the advice on the foam. I have also been through the "learning
curve" that you mentioned. Although I did it with experimental pours on
test components to measure/gauge the mix time and technique, verify
expansion ratio Vs manufacturer's claims, etc. When I do the actual pours
this winter I will not be confining the foam much at all. The majority of
the V berth deck is going to be removed for the pour, I will then trim the
foam and reinstall the deck with epoxy & glass to the foam. I have already
tested this as well. Other areas will also be pretty much open at the time
of the pours. I am glad to hear of your reports of a stiffer hull. This is
one of my expectations of adding the foam. I have also gone with the
Sit-down approach of taking a leak, but the porta-potti seats are very
small, so is the area that IM placed the porta-potti in the newer P19's. I
opted for the Sealand marine head because it has a standard size china bowl
and the 9.5 gal holding tank is directly below the toilet. Fewer parts to
fail over the years of service. The down side of this is the seat is High,
usable with the 4'-11" headroom of the P19 but barely. My wife agreed to
let me purchase our P19 so I would stop adding on to our house. I am a
firm believer that with some optimization in design the P19 can be
modernized to become a very comfortable micro cruiser for two. I have been
studying the Flicka 20, com-pac 25, Seaward sailboats and other similar
standing headroom designs that cost a lot more money, with some imagination
we'll get there. I have also started drawing on Auto Cad a 26.25 ft lg.
8'-6" beam, 6'-0" head room, trailerable sailboat with similar
lines/features to the P19. Conceptually I have looked into using 3mm marine
grade mahogany plywood core (heavier in some high load areas) with
epoxy/glass outer layers and Vinyl Ester finish coat. I am currently
building a 36 x 40 shop in my back yard with double 12 foot high doors, 14
foot high ceiling and tracked lifting beams. It will take me a year to
finish that effort (I promised my wife this is the last addition to our
house : - )) I be in a position to take the 2625 off the drawing boards and
onto prototype after the shop is finished. When I am finally finished
playing around with the P19, I'll give it to my Daughter and Son-in-law to
enjoy. : - ) When my wife an I retire, our plans are to take our RV and
trailerable sailboat around the country to stick with the warm weather.
Lake Chelan will be our Northern base for summer use.

John & Terrie
