Hi
I posted messages about sonar sensors in August and got
several replies. To simplify my life I delete old messages
so I don't have them on file. I went to the www potter web site
and found that they aren't in the archives so I'll ask
again. Sorry.

I bought the Wide 128 depth/fish finder and Mounted the
Unit on the starboard side at 5:00 from the compass.

I wired everything backwards, put a fuse box in a bad place
and basically screwed it all up. Which is really stupid
since I was an Electronic Tech once.

Anyways I can get the thing to run diagnostics and now
I want it to actually tell me how deep the water is.

The manual tells me to drill holes near the water line
to mount the hardware on the transome to hold the sensor.

I don't like holes down there since I figure eventually
they'll cause problems. I'm not big on maintenance.

Some one suggested epoxying it to the hull, but since this
is permanent, and I am clumsy, I fear that I'll mess this up
too.

Basically I think I want some method that will not put holes
too close to the water line, allow me to ensure that everything
works before I make it really permanent. Suggestions would be
appreciated.
