Judy,
I slept for 2 weeks on the factory cushions (brand new) when doing the Sail
for CFIDS fundraiser. I slept in both the quarter berth (aka coffin) and
the v berth with no ill effects. I like a firm mattress, and they were
certainly firm. However, I recommend that you use either a sheet or
polartec bag, as nylon sleeping bags feel quite slimy in the humid air
below. I had some hatch screens custom made also, and they improved the
ventilation greatly. I think the cloth covers are a lot more comfortable
than vinyl, but not as easy to clean. I am 6 feet tall, 185 lbs.

Next time you sail in the SF bay, look for a 19 foot sloop rigged Caranita
named Arwen. She is my old boat (1982-1985) that I had berthed at the
Berkeley Marina; unfortunately I had to sell her when I came down with CFIDS
(Chronic Fatigue Immunde Dysfunction Syndrome). My friend who bought her
now sails out of the Oakland Estruary, and says that she is the prettiest
little boat on the Bay. She looks a lot like a WWP19, with the hard chines
and high freeboard.
