The night before leaving a lake side lodge this summer I pulled my P15 back
on the trailer. Wanted an early start the next morning. The parking lot
behind our unit was not configured for trailer parking so I unhitched my
trailer and pulled it to an empty spot next to my car behind our room.
During the night we had a pretty spectacular thunderstorm. Besides the
thunder and lightning I heard a loud bang followed by another within ten
minutes. This happened twice more before I went out to look.

My Potter had been doing situps. The cockpit would fill to the point where
it would sit down on it's keel. The water would escape enough over the
transom to reduce the weight and the tongue would come back down. I had the
drain hole plugged with a plastic stopper due to a heavy crew. Once removed
the Potter would heed the call of nature and no longer tilt (the tent stake
through the safety chain might have helped as well.)

No damage to the boat. Keys locked in trunk though while I was retrieving
vice grips to remove stopper. So much for an early start. AAA card paid for
itself right there in the wilds of Ontario.

F Troop of the waves.
