My Knot Stick is about two feet long, and has a molded plastic end that comes
to a L shape. The main tube is about an inch in dia. It also has a 3/8 inch
restrictor hole in the bottom end. The top is open except it has a cross hole
with a leather strap that also keeps the cork from falling out. There is also
a wing that is to be held at surface level, so the tube inlet is about five
inches deep. The outside of the tube is callibrated. Maximum speed is 7 knots.
You have to lift the cork over six inches to go from 6 to 7 knots. I am sure
that I have exceeded 7 knots on a few ocasions, but I was too damn buisy at
the time to use the stick. It takes two hands to hold the stick straight at
speed, I usually use it with a crew aboard. When my kids were young they loved
to make speed checks with the stick. If I can find a sorce for these sticke
I'll let you know. Jerry Barrilleaux
