Winter Project (Stairs),

On my first and only sail, in late Oct. before storing the boat for winter, with my WWP 19, I encountered what I considered awkward access to the storage space aft of the cabin stairs & below the cockpit deck. This space is relatively abundant but hard to get at. I thought it would be one of the more simpler tasks to replace the hardware at the top of the stairs with a hinge attachment. Then the stairs can be raised to get at this space. The stairs could also be anchored and/or the footings could be lined with a rubber type material to avoid damamge to the cabin deck or the making of anoying noises.

Have any of you tackled this one yet?
