And then there is the problem of outgassing hydrogen that is created by
the charging process and vented by the regular liquid electrolyte
lead/acid battery. With sufficient overcharging, light boats like the
WWP might leave the water and float off into the air. (An interesting
hull speed problem)

I vote for unvented gel cells.

Or maybe the salesman can recommend a nice Nickel Metal Hydride battery
for those with noticeably fat wallets...
