Hi John, The new Potters are a little more user friendly than the earlier
models. I own a old 1974 model , and I have sailed brand new models. If
something ever happened to my boat, I wouldn't hesitate to buy a new one. The
keel trunk problen was solved by using a gasket and hold down clamps, also the
new keels are galvanized. This is a biggie when you use it as a camper on
land. You won't have to crawl by a rusty plate to get into the bunks. Also
look into their Popular Option Package, It's a good deal. Their new Baha
Trailer is fantastic, the CDI furler works well, and a factory installed
backstay is a must for the serious cruiser.
In 1975 a big Potter was sailed nonstop from CA. to Tahiti. And owning both
Potters I can honestly say that the 19 handles rough seas better than the 15.
I hope this helps you! Jerry Barrilleaux HMS 18 # 48 & P.14 # 564
