>Anybody have any experience with one of them?
Yes....I have used that exact one on my Nimble Bay Hen [ was - a sailboat
] now a motor cruiser in the 0 - 9 knot scale. . It does work well as
advertised but the trailing line is a bit of a hassle. In my case I am
always concerned that the line does not somehow get tangled in the prop.
To be honest, once I established a relationship between my speed throough
the water readings and throttle setting I seldom use it anymore. Also,
the trailing line is elastic to damp out high frequency flutter. When
once reeling in the stretched - out elastic line , the end of the line
with the drag washer jumped up out of the water and shot back towards my
head so I had to duck ! ;-D>
But it does work. Also, if you get one you might make a gizzmo to wind
the long line around to avoid tangles when stored in its plastic case.

PS: If a fish swallows the end of the line [ or you snag weeds, etc. ]
of course you will get a bad reading....but then you might get dinner!
