I recently got rid of a "Somma" brand king size waterbed. Instead of one big
mattress, this type of bed uses long tubes to put the water in. They are
about 6' long and 6" in diameter, and are made of heavy duty vinyl There
were 10 of them in the bed. I saved the tubes when I tossed the mattress,
and am trying to think of the best way to utilize them as flotation in my
P-14.
I guess I see them as "heavy weather" flotation-blowing them up and stuffing
them in under the cockpit as needed, and deflating them when things are
calm. The other idea I had was to sew two of them into a nylon cover, with
lash points so I could attach them on the outside of the cockpit. Might help
keep things on an even keel. Hmm, maybe I could carry two long poles and
make outriggers out of them. Anyone for a Potter trimaran?
