Several years ago I acquired a kit for a fiberglass 16' sloop. The ad
highlighted two ladies without previous construction skills that built the
boat in two weeks.

The kit arrived, all parts were there, and everything went together
perfectly. It took all of my and my father's spare time for an entire
winter (and, of course, all of the garage during that time). When complete
it was a fine boat of its design, and I used it for several years.

But, since I do not plan on a career as a fiberglass boat builder, in
retrospect I would have done far better & had a much better boat for
similar price by finding something like a used P15 (which I had not heard
of at the time).

Based on my experience with all other wood projects, no matter how simple,
- if you are already a skilled wood craftsman with all the tools and
experience needed- go for it. But, I would hesitate to learn the trade on
something that might sink under me.
