Bill and Web Gang:

I would agree and add that if the purchase is too easy; if it is little
effort to
make adjustment, you may be inclined to go overboard with making a myriad of
minute adjustments that kind of serve to take away from the pleasure of just
getting out there and sailing, Potter style. Also, I don't know if anyone
else
out there is like this, but I prefer having to make a little effort in making
adjustments while underway. It serves to assist in telling me how much or
how
little I need..

We are still talking about Potter 19s and 15s, right? For the last few
weeks,
I've been having flashbacks from reading the list, thinking I was back in
collegiate sailing/racing days..

IMHO:

If it is too much hazzle to rig, it might never get used at all. Mine is 4:1
riveted and removes with clips. Clip on clip off... The purpose as I
understand it is to keep the wind spilling from center of leach. Also, keep
boom from flying up and causing a knockdown.
