Bill,

I do a lot of sailing in heavy weather. Over the years I have gotten in
situations where the outhaul line has loosen and it was not safe to stand up
and try to tighten the outhaul. Thus I am not able to spill the wind and have
good control of my P-15. The majority of my sailing is solo. My last sail
was a two week trip in the San Juan Islands in WA. On the last day I got
caught in a major storm where two fishing boats went down. I was in safety
harness and was able to keep total focus on my sailing and make any
adjustments to my sails without having to move from my seat. I should mention
that my boat is set up diffently than most P-15s. My main sheet block and cam
cleat is mounted on the boom. Thus freeing up the cockpit. Also all my lines
and sheets including the cunningham are controled from the cockpit. I have
two main sails. One that is for light winds and the other for heavy winds.
The heavy wind sail has slugs and reefing points.
