Whadya mean, later? We've had less than three feet of snow today and the
ramps almost empty. What more could you ask for?

Harry, usually I launch my boat at Sand Harbor. That's about a mile from my
house on the north shore. We do have a ramp in Incline Village that belongs
to the homeowner's, but it is really exposed and a bitch to get your boat back
on the trailer when the wind pipes up and the chop gets vicious in the
afternoon. The only negative to Sand Harbor is they won't let you park
overnight. It is a beautiful area, though. I usually purchase a season pass
for the ramp at Sand Harbor.

When I have company or other boats along, I usually try to launch at Tahoe
Keys Marina on the South Shore. For those that have been unable to make it to
Lake Tahoe yet, that's where we've had our group sails from. They not only
let you park overnight, but have overnight slips available, a really fun bar
and a nice restaurant. It's a little pricey, but worth it for the ease and
amenities. Also the ramp is totally protected. If it's rough on the lake,
the marina is completely sheltered and easy to get the boats in and out.
There's more interesting places to sail to from Tahoe Keys as well. You can
cruise the casinos in one direction or go towards the quieter west shore in
the other. Emerald Bay is an easy 2 hours by Potter from Tahoe Keys and there
are quiet but maintained camping facilities there.

If just one or two boats where coming up, I know some fine and secure places
to stash the car and trailer and launch from Sand Harbor. There are some
totally unvisited coves and bays that make fine overnight mooring spots.

I'll see you at the marina!
