>From my old Catalina days (up till '93) I always felt the best way to do a
group at Catalina was to go around the top of the island to Cat Harbor and
anchor for free. P19s could get in so close that you could wade ashore and
walk to the Istthmus attractions. Much quieter at night and room for a
couple of hundred boats.

On the other hand, given the trailerability of the P19, you could all go to
Santa Barbara and launch from there for Lady's on Santa Cruz Island. Way
cool place, and big boats get nervous at the tight entrance. See Brian
Fagan's Channel island cruising guide for even more ideas, such as Cochos
Prietos.
