Just to be picky, the Saturn automatic transmissions don't shift with
clutches, they use baulk rings. Also, since more common AT clutch packs
are diametrically much smaller than a manual clutch, their rim speed is
slower, and the load is spread over several plates, thus greatly
decreasing the chance of pre-mature burning.
