Thanks to all for the soothing words re. my comments. I have to say I did
find cracks in the cheek plates of my rudder thanks to the recent
discussion on this point. I am looking into buying a steering compass for
the boat. Looking in the West Marine Catalog, I note that most of the
bulkhead compasses are limited to about a 10 degree incline on the
bulkhead. By my calculation, the P-19 has an inclination from the vertical
of about 22 degrees. Does the compass sold by IM for the Potter come with
some sort of shim block or does it mount with a bracket. Their price seems
sorta high compared to others in the WM catalog. Any suggestions on
compass mounting. I should also note that I loath the idea of cutting a
3-4 inch hole in the bulkhead.
