I've also been wondering about the Iris 100. Looks like it has a
couple advantages. Use it for hand bearings. No need to cut big holes
... so you can easily relocate it after you inevitably realize that
you didn't put it where you should have. I wonder about the mounting
bracket. Is it completely flat when the compass isn't in it? If so,
you can reclaim the mounting surface as a backrest. That would be a
big selling point, if true.
