I don't feel there were really any potters that were lemons.However some boats
were a little better built than others. The early Potters of the 70's, HMS
18's were built like tanks, and were a lot heavier than the Potter 19's. I
never liked the painted keels for salt water sailing, they are a real rust
problem. In late 1992 they went to a lighter (less expensive) mast that seems
to work well . I recomend the optional backstay for extra support. If you are
handy with tools you could fix up an old one, if not I would buy a new boat.
The fact is I would sail the worst P.19 ever made in weather that I would not
