If your boat is halfway well balanced, you should never have to worry about the batteries for a weekend. The unit has a negligible current draw unless it is actually moving the tiller. I use a 60 watt solar panel, and have never had to use anything else to keep the batteries charged even when using a reading light at night, and running the stereo most all the time.

Can anyone tell me how long I could expect to run the autopilot with the
dual battery package IM sells?
