I bought a used Chrysler Bucaneer 18' a couple of years ago. A swift
sailer, it surely provided me with great sails. But raising and
lowering the mast was terrible.

When I ordered my P19 a year ago, I made sure the package included the
IM mast raising system. When it was delivered, the first thing I did
in my yard while the boat was still on the trailer was test the mast
raising system by myself.

It worked exactly as I had hoped. Since then, I've read on this net
various ways to get the mast up, including blocks attached to the bow
pulpit, using a winch, etc. I've no doubt that these methods work,
but the point is the IM system does work. I'm 5'8", yet my height
made no difference.
