Ok, I am convinced that I need a backstay on my 1997 (I assume lighter
mast) P19 since most of my sailing will by on lake michigan this year
and I would like to be prepared for heavier winds and more downwind
sailing. So how do I get one and install it. I called Scott at IM and
he was very helpful about the backstay (he has been getting alot of
calls about it) and he told me they have a "kit" for about $150. Is
this my best option or does someone else have something better or
cheaper. If I know what is in the "kit" can I source the pieces from
West Marine or JSI or ?? for less money ? Is the IM kit the best
solution ? I am open to any suggestions.

On another note what has been used on the Potters for bottom paint.
This is another thing I need to do this year to leave my boat in the
water for the summer. Do I need to do anything special to the
fiberglass before it is painted ? What is a could paint for northern
fresh water ? Any ideas would be helpful
