You may find you don't need anymore HP. I used to use a Tohatsu 3.5 and now
use the Honda 2. I cannot feel or see any difference. Here, at Lake Tahoe,
we get fierce winds and big chop, but no current. I have never had a problem
with the motor pushing the boat. I imagine the strongest wind I have been in
is in the +/- 30 MPH range. I have to guess. I have a knotmeter but no
anemometer. That's just what the weather radio said the gusts where. I think
I have felt 60 MPH gusts in summer squalls, but I don't know. I do know at
that time the boat was under bare poles (or is that "pole", singular?) and
when a gust would hit abeam, the rail would dip into the water. The motor was
still adequate.
