A broken __tiller__?!? That's one I'd surely like to see. I've been
through some of the worst conditions I can imagine a P19 being in --
high winds, large & ugly waves, falling in holes, knockdowns, crossing
seas, sideways motion, power round-ups, even a Chinese gybe -- and
have not even seen the tiller strained, although the rudder strained
at its gudgeons a time or two. All of which is no tribute to such
little seamanship as I posses, of course.

Regardless, my ususally-sufficient imagination fails me. How do we
think this type of failure could/did happen?
