I currently insure my potter through USAA. I didn't check around too much
since I was on my way down to buy it at the time. They did tell me that my
auto insurance would only cover the TRAILER not the boat. But the boat
insurance would cover any damage to the boat in the water or out. They were
interested in knowing what kind of experience I had with boats and how large
was the largest boat I had piloted. I told them 18 foot (didn't volunteer
that it was a canoe).
