For the group, the best thing that I have found if you don't have
varnished hand (grab) rails, is to take the boat to the local car wash
and hit em with high pressure soap. 5 min and they look like new.

Yesterday, I became a P15 owner again after almost 15 years since I sold my first Potter.  I bought the boat at Stockdale Marine in Sacramento, CA.  It's an '87 with galvanized tilt trailer, Evinrude 2hp motor, bow pulpit, fabric cushions, and as near as I can tell, the sails look like new.    It seems to be in good shape but needs a good cleaning.  Unfortunately, the previous owner must have parked the boat outside, because all of the wood trim is gray and split and will have to be replaced.  Needless to say, the topside gelcoat is oxidized and needs some TLC.  I've looked in the West Marine catalog and there are too many brands of waxes and cleaners.  I would appreciate any recommendations for restoring gel coat.  Also, has anyone ever replaced the rub rail?  It might clean up nicely with some Simple Green and elbow grease, but I am curious if it is replaceable.  Thanks to those who answered my previous post about used boat questions.  It's great to be back!
