For a day, probably not. It might be a little safer place to park
overnight.

No problem. The Oakland ramp really isn't that far from the Grand
St ramp -- 10 minutes by boat, maybe -- so it doesn't make any
significant difference which ramp you launch from -- if you are on
the water by 10 am, you could simply sail/motor down the estuary.
The ramp is directly across from Coast Guard Island, and there are
usually one or two real big Coast Guard Cutters there. The ramp is
about 10 meters south of the Grand Marina fuel dock (recognizable by
a "Shell" gas pump). If you stick close to the west shore, you
can't miss it.
