Mac:

Congratulations!

This is the most imaginative solution to a perennial problem... I used to have
a 3.5 and got rid of it due to it's need for constant refueling...

I kept planning to put in an electric fuel pump in that 3.5 but could not
figure out how to keep internal tank from overflowing or choking engine with
fuel pump pressure. Also, cheapest fuel pump I could get was 80 bucks... I
even though about glueing an auxiliary tank on top of existing one... Gave up
when I got Potter and tried motoring against current at inlet. It would not
make headway (actually I was going backwards in fwd at full throttle.)

Hi Derek:
Try this: Acquire a 1 or 2 gallon plastic gas can. Remove the installed
funnel and drill an appropriately sized hole in the filler cap. Rig a piece
of fuel capable hose from the bottom of the tank, through the hole in the
cap, and into an appriopriate sized hole in the internal tank filler cap.
Attach the tank securely to the top of the transom, and when the motor is
lowered into operating position, gas will siphon from the tank (ex gas can)
into the internal tank, keeping the internal tank full at all times. It's
not elegant, but it works.
