original one wasn't symmetrical, so my copy didn't look right.

So i built a symmetrical prototype out of pressboard, and planned to re-cut
the sliding hatch.

I'm glad I used pressboard instead of another $30 piece of marine ply. The
symmetrical one wasn't going to work at all.

It turns out, as one of you suggested, that the hatch is asymmetrical on
purpose. One side of the cabin is taller than the other!!!! The asymmeteric
curve of the hatch makes it not appear that way, so I have to cut my new
hatch that way for it to look "right".

Weird huh?

Hi Eric et al,

When I was installing the genoa tracks on Redwing's cabintop, I found the same
thing. The whole cabin top on my 1985 P19 is asymetric. The front corners
aren't the same shape. I measured about three times using diferent reference
points before I realized was the problem was. In the end, I measured off the
centerline for the side to side location and the mast (which isn't perfectly
in the middle, but it's really close) to get the fore and aft location.
