Okay, I have one more location for you . . . . . On Hamada, the
winch (a heavy worm gear affair) is portable, and in use it sits on
top of the cabin just forward of the sliding hatch when closed.
There is a 3" removable port there and must be removed to use the
winch which is then just placed there with its 3/4" nylon line
hanging straight down into the cabin and is then attatched to the
keel with a shackle. Being a worm gear, you must turn it in the
direction you want it to go, can't slip. I always thought that it was
a really unfriendly setup, but the more horror stories I read here on
the list, the better it looks . . . . .
