One of the sailing books I read Pardey? Payson? suggested that one
way to get someone into a boat was to have a fabric sling that
is attached to the side of the boat with lines at the other side.
The body is moved so that it lies above the fabric between the
boat and the lines. The lines are pulled and the body is rolled
into the cockpit. This would be easier that trying to lift the
entire mass of the body with a topping lift.
