Hi Webgang,

Well, I glassed and patched and sanded about 40 hours. (including rebuilding
that weird 1985 bilge arrangement that doesn't ever empty and glassing the
floorless cabin liner to the hull so there are no gaps). Then I sprayed
Redwing's cabin with new gelcoat. Also coated the underside of the deck and
the rest of the exposed insides with gelcoat.

Incredible. It looks like new inside! And I'm 50% done with the gelcoat on
the outside hull. I'm not planning on respraying the whole hull because I
can't figure out how to suspend the boat off the trailer... but I'm tempted
because the interior came out so well! Maybe a nice dark bing-cherry red
would look nice....

I'm working my butt off to get the new wood cabinette doors, hatch door and
outside of the hull done in time for the Stockton PY cruise so I can show her
off. You can bet I'll be fishing for compliments. But y'all will have to
ignore the old headliner...

I'll have before and after pics in a week or so when I get the doors done.
I'm making wood panels to go over the original doors. I found some 1/4 oak
strips at the local home improvement shop. With a little experiementing, I
found out that two coats of "Pecan" minwax stain matches the color of the
newly bleached and oiled teak steps. Gonna get some new hinges.

Already got a new headliner from IM at a very reasonable cost. But it's a
ton of work to install it -- have to remove the keel cable blocks and a few
other things and re-install them.

Anybody ever installed the headliner with velcro so it's removable? I don't
want to glue it in over all the nuts/washers/bolts that go through the
cabintop in case they ever need to be removed for repairs or fixing leaks.

Regards,
Judy B.
